A career at TI is more than just a job. It’s a chance to make a tangible difference in the technology industry while honing your current skills and developing new ones. But TI employees across the board seem to agree on one thing – our people are at the heart of our success.

We value smart collaboration on projects and encourage innovative thinking. We must be doing something right, because once people join our team they seem to hang around for awhile. But don’t listen to us. Let the employees explain what it’s really like to work here.

Viktorija, Technical Sales Engineer

Viktorija, Technical Sales Engineer

Sales is so much more that I ever thought it would be! Graduating with an electrical engineering degree and struggling to determine what type of engineering career I was passionate about, three years later I have no doubt I chose correctly. The sales role challenges my engineering and social skills. Some compare it to owning your own business. While that may be true, to me this role is like a giant puzzle. Each piece is the engineer you’ve met, a part you designed in, a new product you have learned about, a problem you have solved, and relationships you have built. It’s a challenging role that allows me to thrive in an environment where I learn something new every day.

Why Choose TI?

Why Choose TI?

Sangmin, C2000 MCU Worldwide Marketing Manager

I started my career in design, which gave me a lot of an exposure and foundation into product development.  My initial move to marketing, as a C2000™ Microcontroller marketing manager, helped me understand the dynamics and structure of the TI field and our customers. TI has always provided an environment to foster my growth and skills. The people are very professional, technical and great to work with! I think we live by some simple rules at TI: you should treat everyone as if they are your customer, have a vision for your future and take bold steps to get there, and work as accurately and as fast as you can. TI is a dynamic place to work, and no day is ever the same, but you will find yourself doing some of the same things, such as replying to field questions, attending customer meetings, aligning with other TI teams, steering work by setting priorities, closing device actions, reflecting on strategy, and learning from other groups.

Harini, Technical Sales Engineer

Harini, Technical Sales Engineer

I honestly stumbled into the Technical Sales role, and am so glad I did! They say this is the best kept secret in engineering, and it truly was the case with me. As a Technical Sales Engineer I am responsible for working closely with customers, identifying their problems and needs, and tying that back to what TI solutions would be the best fit. I enjoy the challenge and variety of working with different customers and technologies, having a broad exposure to different TI products, and being an integral part of a customer’s product launch – from start to finish. The Technical Sales Rotation Program has provided me with a strong foundation of product knowledge and business skills to enable customer success. It’s a great way to transition from college life into corporate work life!

Henrik, European Marketing Manager

I wanted to work for an international high-tech company, so I chose TI. I've worked with TI in the UK and Sweden but now, I'm the European Marketing Manager for one of TI’s analog business units based in Germany. You have great opportunities to grow at TI if you are willing to be curious, look for new opportunities and expand your network. It's very rewarding to work with such smart, respectful, hardworking people. TI doesn't tell you exactly how to get things done, but the overall goals are well communicated, so you can pursue them with passion and energy. Test your ideas, lead by example, and share the experience, and others will follow. The more information you share, the more others will share with you.

Ryan, Applications Engineering Program

Ryan, Applications Engineering Program

TI’s Applications Engineering Program offers a recent college grad great flexibility at the beginning of your engineering career. You have the opportunity to experience several different areas of TI in various applications roles. Here you have the chance to not only learn from industry experts, but offer valuable contributions to the product and sales teams and directly affect TI’s bottom line. This program has provided me networking opportunities with sales teams, managers, Senior VPs – and even the CEO! The TI culture and growth opportunities have created an environment where I can constantly learn and thrive – a great place to begin your career!

Jeff, Product Line Manager

TI has provided me with many opportunities. I've done product, test and application engineering, systems and marketing, and product line management—from concept to customer delivery. There's always something new to learn, and you should learn as much as you can. It's the challenges I get to work on every day that keep me here. I get to constantly figure out how to do things more efficiently, and it forces me to be innovative. Collaboration is important, too, and you need to have a good network inside TI to get things done. Build relationships with senior engineers and managers, consider all the factors of a project, and use the systems that are in place to get things done.

Morgan, Technical Sales Engineer

Morgan, Technical Sales Engineer

Being an engineer that wanted a strong technical foundation, but found every excuse possible to enroll in business classes when an opportunity arose, it only made sense for me to consider a career in sales. A Technical Sales Engineer is very much like being an entrepreneur. My set of accounts is my business. I make decisions and strategize on how to grow that business – down to every dollar that’s spent and every hour that’s invested with customers. The Technical Sales Rotation Program prepared me to drive business results and help my customers be successful. Aside from the great on-the-job training, I have made friendships that will last my whole career and lifetime.

Devon, Finance and Operations Manager

I think what really keeps me here at TI is the people. I work with smart, motivated, ethical people—and that's not easy to find everywhere. If you want to move forward at TI, being self-motivated and inquisitive about everything is the key. I would say the best way to advance your career is to always be asking questions and finding new ways to get things done. Basically, there is no typical workday here. The days can vary pretty dramatically. Some days I have large blocks of time to work on tasks and projects on my own. Other days, I'm working entirely with my team. The variability of my days is one of the things I like best at TI.

A Great Place to Work

Kay, Applications Engineering Program

Kay, Applications Engineering Program

TI’s family-first philosophy, in addition to numerous worldwide recognitions as one of the best employers, was one of the deciding factors for me to join TI. As a new college graduate, the Applications Engineering Program was the perfect place to start my engineering career. I am challenged daily and learning from exceptional leaders. Not only do I get to experience different aspects of product and customer focuses, the “learn by doing” approach at TI integrates deep technical training with a vast amount of lab time. Best of all, I get to do what I love and be an important team contributor at TI everyday!

Gayle, Director, T3™ Professional Development

I continually learn so much from the diverse talent employed at TI.  Our organization is filled with innovative, creative people, and we get better results by bouncing ideas around and getting feedback from one another. Collaboration helps avoid gaps, conflicting efforts and duplication of work. To fully engage in such a learning and collaborative atmosphere, you should work hard, be proactive in understanding our business overall, and share information in a personal way. Overall, TI is successful because we listen to our customers and try to figure out what will make their lives and work easier.  It's the best feeling when we bring them something they didn't even know they wanted but can’t live without!

Pinar, Microcontroller Automotive Quality Manager

We are a team that shares knowledge, thinks about an issue from many different angles, and supports our customer together. When I arrived at TI, I was fresh out of graduate school—with no corporate experience, and limited experience presenting to and challenging customers. Over time, not only did I broaden my knowledge and skill set through different roles, I grew tremendously through hands-on experience. There are a plethora of options at TI.  The opportunities at TI will gain you more experience, but those opportunities are only valuable if you use them to learn more about your strengths and weaknesses, and challenge yourself to evolve.

Michael, Section Head MSP430 Product Engineering

I started as a working student in Freising, Germany, and had the opportunity to move to Dallas. This was a fantastic experience professionally and personally—it really helped shape my life. After working on engineering projects in Texas, I went back to Germany to work on a small product line that grew into a multi-million-dollar business—one of TI's largest. The key to TI—take the opportunities when they become available. TI has excelled by giving people freedom to define their own destiny. If you have a new idea, fight for it—keep an open mind, be interested in new things, and show dedication. But keep in mind that even a genius cannot develop and implement ideas on his own. A group of people is always more innovative.

Pete, Applications Engineering Program

Pete, Applications Engineering Program

I chose the Applications Engineering Program because it provided the perfect bridge between theory and real-world applications. My experience in the program, and in my role now as a field applications engineer, has enabled me to help TI gain significant share by integrating my college experience with the knowledge gained during my work rotations. I think it’s important to realize that the Applications Engineering Program is more than just a program...it’s also family – individuals who I have an instantaneous bond with. Engineers like myself who have a passion for driving customer success.

Antonio Applications Engineering Program

Antonio, Applications Engineering Program

I knew I wanted to work at Texas Instruments the moment that I decided to focus my academics in Analog electronics. During my first 5-month work rotation, I had the opportunity to design two power supply evaluation modules (along with debugging customer problems), and also wrote an application note. Unlike any other program, the Applications Engineering Program has helped me develop into a more well-rounded applications engineer by providing hands-on experience with both products and customers.

Maria, West Europe Sales Director

I was hired just out of engineering school, and now I'm a sales director in Western Europe. I've stayed at TI because of continuous opportunities to grow personally and professionally in a very dynamic market. TI gives you the opportunity to put your ideas in practice and makes you accountable for your actions. You can see the impact of what you do and this is very rewarding professionally and personally. Moreover, great ideas come from individuals, but great implementation—especially in today's world—comes from great teams working closely together. Collaboration is essential in any work you do at TI.

Svend, Analog Design Engineer

TI is very good at giving graduates challenging and exciting tasks, and we work side-by-side with experienced engineers, learning a lot from day one. I began as a summer intern in Oslo, and now I'm in my second year as a design engineer. TI has competitive salaries and a very good social environment, as well as being flexible in the way we work. Often tasks require collaboration and planning across time zones and cultures, which can be challenging, but also very inspiring. TI always listens to our ideas and encourages  us to develop and try new things.

Brian, Applications Engineering Program

The experiences I gained in the Applications Engineering Program were essential for the successes I enjoy and work toward today as an Analog Field Applications Engineer. The relationships I built throughout my product group rotations has enabled me to effectively bridge customers and their challenges with some of the brightest minds in the industry to develop creative solutions on a day-to-day basis. This coordinated effort provides me with the experience and satisfaction of working with professionals of various segments of the electronics industry. It’s particularly exciting to recognize customer electronic products in media and on store shelves and to be able to say that some of my ideas brought that product to reality.

Alex, Technical Sales Engineer

Alex, Technical Sales Engineer

Looking back on my undergraduate scholastic career, I regret not learning about what a Sales Engineer was sooner. I love technology and LOVE my role now as a Technical Sales Engineer for TI. This role allows me to be involved as technical as I choose and never lose touch with my engineering roots. The business side of this role enables me to focus on a core set of business skills not typically included in engineering curriculums. Why is the sales role a dream come true for me? I am able to leverage my engineering background in a new way, it provides me with a challenging job that has a fast-paced business and technology focus, and is extremely fulfilling and rewarding. But even more than that...it provides me an opportunity to lead by example and directly contribute to the future success of TI.

John, Applications Engineering Program

John, Applications Engineering Program

Coming out of college I still wasn’t sure what area of Electrical Engineering I wanted to pursue. Since starting the Applications Engineering Program, I’ve rotated within Applications Engineering groups that varied in their technical depth and breadth, but have also been exposed to many aspects of EE including Control Systems, Communications, Microelectronics, Power Systems, Magnetics, and RF system design as well as a variety of schematic, layout, and modeling tools. I work with leaders in the industry every day, am consistently challenged, and even as a junior engineer can see the impact of my contributions. Applications Engineering is so uniquely positioned between sales and design, that I know this role has equipped me to succeed regardless of what direction my career takes me.

Piotr, Technical Sales Engineer

At TI, just love what you do. Every day is different. I am constantly in motion, and I love it. For example, I started in Poland and am now on a one-year U.S. assignment! To get my work done, I collaborate with my team and colleagues to find the best possible solution for a project. TI doesn't stop anyone from being innovative. If you have a good idea, just let your manager know—they’ll listen. In fact, I believe TI has stayed on the leading edge of the industry by trusting the people who work here, by believing they do their jobs properly, and appealing to their sense of responsibility.

Jennifer, Product Line Manager

I completed four rotations at TI in two years: wireless operations in Dallas and France, then finance roles in Education Technology and High-Volume Analog and Logic. These rotations allowed me to learn about TI's different businesses quickly and helped me select my current role (which I love)—product line manager in Education Technology. It allows me to combine analytical skills with strategic programs. I've taken nuggets of knowledge from each of my positions and incorporated them into my current role. To get ahead at TI, don't be afraid to ask questions, but know who and when to ask.  Tell people what you're interested in, so they can keep you in mind as opportunities surface.

Nat, Director of Advanced Development

I started at TI as a co-op student in 1987. Along the way, I have been granted 35 U.S. and international patents. From my experience, the bulk of innovation at TI will always come from being the first to realize and solve a problem facing our clients or the industry. When it comes to a project, the business always expects you to achieve your stated objective, but career growth comes when you go above and beyond those objectives. Our culture rewards positive, humble, and results-oriented behaviors. As an engineer at TI that means learning from others efforts within the organization, building upon them with your own insights, and sharing your improvements.

Greg, Applications Engineering Program

In just my first month in the program I was able to assist several large customers in solving circuit design problems, create an evaluation module for a 12-bit DAC, and meet with top management at TI. I have been stretched to learn the fine points in good design and learn how to better interact with people. The Applications Engineering Program is preparing me for a long-term career in Analog Applications Engineering. It is a challenging entry-level opportunity, but if you want to learn applications engineering and be the best – this program is how to get there.

Michael, Technology and Manufacturing Leadership Development Rotation Program

The Technology and Manufacturing Leadership Development Rotation Program is a testament to the fact that Texas Instruments is a company that strongly believes in growing leaders, and expends its resources advancing your career from "Day One". This is a unique opportunity for new employees to quickly learn about the different aspects of semiconductor manufacturing, and to see and experience TI innovation in action. TI is worldwide, world changing, world leading, and the Technology and Manufacturing Leadership Development Rotation Program places you right in the middle. WOW! This program is geared towards individuals who aspire to grow as engineers and as leaders. I am extremely excited about mentoring, working on my own development and enhancing my leadership skills.

Anders, RSM, TI Sweden & Norway

In 2008, I joined TI as regional sales manager, and I've stayed in that role since I first came to the company. One of the best things about my job is the fact that TI has a very good portfolio of products to sell. In addition to that, I have stayed at TI because of the culture. The company rewards results. If you want to advance in your career here at TI, you just need to stay active and show that you have a desire to grow. Once you are working in your job at TI, it's important to keep looking for better ways to get work done. As Nike says, "Just do it." If you know what you want to do or what needs to be done, just do it. Don't wait.
